Detailed Itinerary – 20 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1 Arrival in Entebbe

At Entebbe International Airport, our Umoja Motherland tours professional guide will be waiting to pick you up and transfer you to your lodge.

Day 2: City tour Kampala.

The first spot will be the Kampala big Mosque, then the museum. After a lunch break, where traditional delicacy will be served, you will proceed to local market (Nakasero and Owino) to emance in the local community. If time allows you will check out some craft shops.

Day 3: Depart for Jinja – Nile cruise to Source of the Nile

Jinja is known as the adrenaline capital of East Africa. In Jinja, you will have a chance to interact with the Basoga people, see Bujagali Falls as well as visit the source of the Nile on an evening boat cruise.

Day 4: Drive to Sipi falls – Hike

Sipi Falls, a series of three spectacular waterfalls, is situated just outside Mount Elgon National Park, site of an incredible number of bird species as well as being the largest volcanic base in the world. You will have a chance to hike to the top of the three water falls.

Day 5: Coffee Experiential Tour

First, you will learn about coffee and personally experience the processes of coffee growth, drying, and processing locally. Additionally, you will visit some local community families and see their life style and much more.

Day 6: Drive to Kidepo Valley National park.

Kidepo Valley National Park magnificently lies in rugged, semi-arid valleys and has a profusion of big game, hosting over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species. Kidepo ranks among Africa’s finest wildernesses.

Day 7: Game drives and optional guided nature walk

Early morning game drive. You should expect to see lots of game like the lions Elephants, Zebras, Buffalos, Giraffes, Lions, Cheetahs, and Hyena etc. during a game drive. Later, you can opt for a guided bush walk through the park or optional activity called Warden Keeper (season dependent). You will also visit the local communities and learn about their lifestyles.

Day 8: Depart for Murchison Falls National park

After breakfast depart for Murchison Falls National park. Murchison Falls National Park has 76 mammal species and 451 bird species. The River Nile runs through the park and attracts Nile crocodile, hippo and the rare semi-aquatic Sitatunga antelope. Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and Rothschild’s giraffes are just a few of the big Five mammals you may see.

Day 9: Water Safari.
An early morning game drive, where you will see a variety of the wildlife and birdlife of Murchison Falls National Park. You will then embark on a boat ride to the Nile Delta, home to the iconic Shoebill and many other aquatic animals.

Day 10: Drive to Hoima – Chimpanzee tracking, Budongo & Boma Cultural women

Uganda Chimpanzee tracking will be done in Budongo forest; which is a part of Murchison falls National Park. After the activity, you will proceed to see the different things/crafts made by the Bugongo & Boma community women. We shall then continue with our journey to Hoima.

Day 11: Depart for Fort portal

On this day we shall depart for Fort portal, where you will do a city tour to the palace, visit the crater lakes, visit tea plantation (To learn about tea picking and processing traditionally and modernly). If you are interested, you will go and check out the night life of Fort portal.

Day 12: Drive to Ishasha – Evening Game drive.

Ishasha is located in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will be on the lookout for its famous resident: the tree climbing lion during the game drive. A sighting is not guaranteed but you have a better chance of seeing them here in the large low-limbed fig trees of Ishasha than anywhere else in Africa.

Day 13: Depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest /Change a life community project

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site. Bwindi’s most-revered species are the approximately 400 wild Mountain Gorillas. You will also visit a local community project called Change a life, an orphanage school, and much more

Day 14: Gorilla Tracking-Local Community Tour/Encounter/Batwa pygmies

Your Ugandan gorilla trekking will start after a briefing by the rangers. You will locate and interact (under supervision) with a gorilla family. The guides will interpret the animals’ behavior and advice on what you are watching. You will take a nature walk and visit the local traditional doctor and the Batwa pygmy’s culture.

Day 15: Visit the Nshenyi Cultural Village

Traditionally, Nshenyi is a pastoralist area. The terrain is characterized by endless rolling hills, savanna grass and acaci a trees, an environment, ideal for rearing cattle. You will experience the traditional music and dance of the people of western Uganda.

Day 16: Full day activities

You will embark on activities such as: participating in milking the long horned cattle, visiting local farmers that harvest honey from caves and rocks of surrounding hill, crop cultivation and food processing, visiting local schools, markets and interact with the community.

Day 17: Drive to Mbarara Town

Enjoy a splendid journey to Mbarara town, also located in western part of Uganda, where you will spend a night.

Day 18: Drive back to Kampala/Night life

Drive to Kampala from Mbarara with an Equator stop over. You will proceed to your lodge in Kampala, relax  at the swimming pool then later chose to stay back and sleep or go out and check out the night life in Kampala.

Day 19: Visit a local community school (St Roza College Mattuga)

You will visit a local community school, where students will entertain you and you will spend your day interacting with the students. You will also learn about the Ugandan education syllabuses and the children’s family lifestyles and much more.

Day 20: Drive to the Airport.

After breakfast, relax at the lodge by the swimming pool side. Then later we will start our journey back to Entebbe International Airport from Kampala. You will be in Entebbe in due time for your out bound flight.
